WWE Hall of Fame 2014; Thoughts on the ceremony

Earlier tonight, the WWE presented the WWE Hall of Fame in it's entirety on the WWE Network.  It was a very interesting evening with quite a few highlights. One thing is for sure, this show went really, really, really long.  I have been fortunate enough to attend a Hall of Fame ceremony and it was nowhere near the length of this ceremony. The major reason for that was three very long speeches.

The first long speech was from the first inductee, Lita.  I am a big Lita fan and I am extremely happy that she was honored.  That being said, her speech was over thirty minutes.  There was a fun highlight of Arn Anderson and Rey Mysterio getting Miller Lights that she owed them.  Overall though, I would just say that this speech ran too long.

The best speech of the night came from our second inductee, Jake Roberts.  DDP had a nice speech to welcome Jake out that featured some funny stories.  Jake then came out and provided a moving, truthful, harsh, and inspirational speech.  If you missed the show, when you get the chance, please watch this speech. Jake made me laugh, cry, and cry again from happiness for Jake's turn-around.  Truly a wonderful moment.

Our second loooong speech came from Mr. T.  90% of his speech was about his mother, he started to talk about his other family members when Kane came out and asked him to leave.  It was awkward and sad. I don't really have anything else to say, because I feel bad for T.

Kane then delivered a fantastic speech about Paul Bearer. Kane came off very well here, and payed tribute nicely in his speech.  Paul Bearer's sons then came out and accepted the honor.  This is when Undertaker came out for the first time at a televised Hall of Fame ceremony.  Taker came out in his outfit, got down on one knee, and held up the signature urn.  This was a touching tribute to a true legend.

The next speech was short but too Sweeeeeeeet! (sorry, I had to) The "Bad Guy" Razor Ramon was inducted by Kevin Nash.  They both kept their speeches short, but Scott delivered a nice message and a really cool closing line. This was proceeded with the rest of the Kliq coming out and posing with Scott.  This was a really cool moment.

Next up was the Colon boys (Primo, Epico, and Carlito) inducting the Puerto Rican wrestling legend, Carlos Colon, to the hall.  Carlito got a few uncomfortable jabs out on the mic and then turned it over to Primo and Epico.  Carlos had an nice moment and said his piece in English and Spanish.

This brought the headline inductee out, the Ultimate Warrior.  This speech was the last long speech.  Warrior had a few comments about the Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD that came out years ago.  He also stated that the comments that had been made about him being an asshole and a guy who did bad business pissed him off and broke his heart. He also made a jab about the Summerslam 91' incident when Warrior got fired. For the most part though, the speech was good.  Warrior deserves to be in the hall and I'm happy for him.

Ultimately it was a fun evening. I am posting this very late because a different article will be posted at 10AM, and that will be my review of the New Japan Pro Wrestling PPV, Invasion Attack.  Staying up will be hard, but I am up for the task.  Thanks for reading, and welcome to a national holiday, Wrestlemania Sunday!

WWE Cruiserweight Classic: Thoughts and Hopes for the tournament

Wednesday night kicked off the opening of the 32 man tournament known as the Cruiserweight Classic. This is an extremely significant venture for the WWE and the WWE Network.  Growing up a wrestling fan, I didn't think I would see something like this happen in a major North American promotion, and certainly not the WWE.  The fact that most of the talent lineup are not under a WWE contract makes it even more fascinating. What also makes this tournament fascinating is the presentation.  This show is being treated like a sporting event with serious discussion on weight cutting, fighting styles and the representations of their countries.  They even did a Bracketology special.  This is a complete departure from the WWE presentation style.  This isn't sports entertainment, this is professional wrestling, and they are pushing that fact.  Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan bring a feel of legitimacy and excitement to their announcing that this show feels even more special. They are pur

WWE Extreme Rules 2014: Thoughts and Review

I just wanted to do a quick breakdown of my thoughts on the show last night.  Overall, I enjoyed the show. That being said, there were a few things I did not care for.  Let's break it down! Pre-Show--- WeeLC: El Torito vs. Hornswoggle: This worked for me as a comedy special attraction.  The second half of this match really got over with the crowd at the IZOD Center.  Good for these guys to put on a fun show. Rating : *** Match #1: Swagger vs. RVD vs. Cesaro This was a fun match and had the crowd going.  The finish was terrifying with Rob cutting his face on the trash can.  This was a nice win for Cesaro, and I hope he can move on soon. Rating: *** Match #2: R-Truth and Xavier Woods vs. Alexander Rusev: Squashtastic. Plain and simply a quick and painless match that felt kind of pointless.  Rusev looks strong, and R-Truth continues to ruin Xavier Woods.   Rating : * Match #3: Bad News Barrett vs. Big E Langston (C) for the Intercontinental Championship: This w

RAW 7/25/16: One of the greatest RAW episodes ever?

This week's WWE Raw was a big deal. It was the first episode of the new era.  They needed to bring something different. They needed a good show to get the brand started off right.  They didn't deliver a good show... They delivered a great show.  To start off the new feel, they had a much improved opening video/song. They started the show with a talking segment to establish the evening, and then never looked back.  But the question isn't whether or not this show rocked, but why did it work so much better than the last year of RAW?  Well there are quite a few things that worked in this episode's favor, so I am going to break it down a bit. 1.) Making Stars Holy cow, this has to be the first thing I cover.  They made two stars tonight and also highlighted other talents effectively.  Finn Balor and Sasha Banks came out of this show looking like a trillion dollars.  The crowd was into Finn Balor, but I don't think they believed he would win the fatal
