The end of Wrestlemania week; The Post-Wrestlemania RAW

I am on cloud nine.  Last night was had a little bit of past, a good amount of present, and an enormous amount of future.  Before I get into my specific thoughts, I wanted to thank WWE for this show.  This show was a beacon of hope for all of the people that wanted something new and fresh.  This show was it. I would love to do a segment by segment breakdown in order, but I didn't want to take notes. I was enjoying the show way too much. Instead, I will post my thoughts on big moments throughout the night in no particular order.

We had a hot opening segment with Daniel Bryan getting the praise he deserves.  "You deserve it" is the truest chant that has ever been given by a crowd. I am happy that Daniel Bryan got to the top of the mountain, because he does deserve it.  No matter what happens in the future, nobody can take April 6, 2104 away from Daniel Bryan, or the hero's welcome he received the next night.  Triple H came out and informed Bryan he had a title match against.... Triple H.  Awesome opening segment.

We had a fun 6-man tag with the Wyatts defeating the team of John Cena, Big E, and Sheamus.   The match was very good, but more importantly the crowd was hot for the Wyatts.  Seeing the crowd sing "He's got the whole world in his hands" and swaying their arms was surreal.

We also got some vignettes tonight! For two NXT guys!  First we saw a Bo Dallas vignette that was beyond fitting for his hilarious gimmick.  Later on we got a vignette for Adam Rose and the Exotic Express.  There were two vignettes for each of them.  That's awesome!  I look forward to seeing more fresh talent on the main roster.

Speaking of new talent, we also had the debut of Alexander Rusev.  He destroyed Zack Ryder in short order. I am afraid he will end up like Kozlov, but he is talented.  Hopefully he can overcome what seems to be a lack of charisma because I love his moveset.

We had another debut on this show from another NXT Talent. Paige made her debut, had her first match and beat AJ Lee for the Divas Championship!!! Holy cow! I'm sorry if there are too many exclamation points in this blog, but I'm just thrilled with the product right now. Paige is an extremely talented young woman who can bring some much needed change to a flailing Divas division.

I've been talking a lot about new guys, I do need to bring up something from an older guy. Brock Lesnar defeated the Streak at Wrestlemania 30 and everybody freaked out.  Tonight, Paul Heyman used their time to brag about the win.  Paul Heyman is a magician on a microphone. If he is speaking, I will listen.  The speech sets up potential feuds in the future with other top stars, as Heyman called them all "wannabes." Nice work from Mr. Heyman.  That would not be the last we see of him though...

Cesaro received his Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy on the show and got a hand shake from Hulk Hogan. Zeb Colter then took the microphone and started talking about how he brought Cesaro into the fold and made him a "Zeb Colter Guy."  Cesaro took the mic and said he wasn't a "Zeb Colter Guy," he was a "Paul Heyman Guy."  Paul Heyman came out and dubbed himself the advocate of the "King of Swing" Cesaro.  Heyman went to talk to the announcers when Jack Swagger attacked Cesaro and destroyed the trophy. They had a short match that Swagger walked out on and it said up a match at Extreme Rules, I would presume.

We had a few in-ring returns on the show as well.  The first was Rob Van Dam defeating Damien Sandow. Nice to see Rob back. I have no clue how he is going to be utilized.  The second return was that of Bad News Barrett. He was treated like a star by the crowd as he defeated Rey Mysterio in a short, but fun match.

This show is so crazy that I almost forgot that we had a strange promo for the Ultimate Warrior thanking the fans for being fans of the Warrior and the next stars of the WWE.  This was the first appearance for the Warrior since July 8, 1996.  It was cool seeing him, even though he looked really weird in a mask of his face paint.

Okay. Let's get down to the nitty gritty. The finish of this show was delicious icing on the cake.  They set up an angle backstage with Kane admitting that Triple H ordered Kane and the New Age Outlaws to attack the Shield.  At the main event, Bryan came out and took a beating from Orton, Batista, and Kane.  Triple H came out to win the championship and then... the Shield's music hit.  The crowd goes nuts.  They stare down Kane, Orton and Batista.  They get all get in the ring while Hunter tries to stop them.  Hunter then eats a spear to a massive pop.  The Shield takes out everybody and leaves Hunter all alone to eat the running knee from Bryan.  Shield are now big time faces, and I hope will have a match against Evolution in the near future.

Overall, this night was a huge breath of fresh air.  This show wasn't just about changing gears and resetting the playing field, it was about the fans.  Daniel Bryan thanked the fans in the post show in an emotional moment.  To top it off, the WWE thanked the fans in a touching video that I will end this post with.  The people changed the course of history.  Two things needed to happen to get to this point, CM Punk leaving and the crowd telling WWE they wouldn't accept anybody but Bryan in the main event of Wrestlemania XXX.  Thank you CM Punk, and thank you to the people... the WWE Universe.

WWE Cruiserweight Classic: Thoughts and Hopes for the tournament

Wednesday night kicked off the opening of the 32 man tournament known as the Cruiserweight Classic. This is an extremely significant venture for the WWE and the WWE Network.  Growing up a wrestling fan, I didn't think I would see something like this happen in a major North American promotion, and certainly not the WWE.  The fact that most of the talent lineup are not under a WWE contract makes it even more fascinating. What also makes this tournament fascinating is the presentation.  This show is being treated like a sporting event with serious discussion on weight cutting, fighting styles and the representations of their countries.  They even did a Bracketology special.  This is a complete departure from the WWE presentation style.  This isn't sports entertainment, this is professional wrestling, and they are pushing that fact.  Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan bring a feel of legitimacy and excitement to their announcing that this show feels even more special. They are pur

WWE Extreme Rules 2014: Thoughts and Review

I just wanted to do a quick breakdown of my thoughts on the show last night.  Overall, I enjoyed the show. That being said, there were a few things I did not care for.  Let's break it down! Pre-Show--- WeeLC: El Torito vs. Hornswoggle: This worked for me as a comedy special attraction.  The second half of this match really got over with the crowd at the IZOD Center.  Good for these guys to put on a fun show. Rating : *** Match #1: Swagger vs. RVD vs. Cesaro This was a fun match and had the crowd going.  The finish was terrifying with Rob cutting his face on the trash can.  This was a nice win for Cesaro, and I hope he can move on soon. Rating: *** Match #2: R-Truth and Xavier Woods vs. Alexander Rusev: Squashtastic. Plain and simply a quick and painless match that felt kind of pointless.  Rusev looks strong, and R-Truth continues to ruin Xavier Woods.   Rating : * Match #3: Bad News Barrett vs. Big E Langston (C) for the Intercontinental Championship: This w

RAW 7/25/16: One of the greatest RAW episodes ever?

This week's WWE Raw was a big deal. It was the first episode of the new era.  They needed to bring something different. They needed a good show to get the brand started off right.  They didn't deliver a good show... They delivered a great show.  To start off the new feel, they had a much improved opening video/song. They started the show with a talking segment to establish the evening, and then never looked back.  But the question isn't whether or not this show rocked, but why did it work so much better than the last year of RAW?  Well there are quite a few things that worked in this episode's favor, so I am going to break it down a bit. 1.) Making Stars Holy cow, this has to be the first thing I cover.  They made two stars tonight and also highlighted other talents effectively.  Finn Balor and Sasha Banks came out of this show looking like a trillion dollars.  The crowd was into Finn Balor, but I don't think they believed he would win the fatal
