NXT TakeOver: New Orleans Review

Wow.... That is what I have to say about tonight's show. Simply incredible to watch. I have learned to never doubt TakeOver shows, and I certainly thought this was going to be a great show. I underestimated how good this show would be. Let's get into it... NXT North American Championship Ladder Match Holy Crap. Where do I start?!? I think I will start by saying this was absolutely insane. So many crazy spots from guys I never imagined. Lars Sullivan killed it. EC3 got killed multiple times. Killian Dain was a beast. Velveteen Dream came off like a star. Ricochet came off even better... and then Adam Cole stole it at the end. Great spots, great drama, great crowd, and most importantly... GREAT EFFORT. Effort will always bump a match up. This is no exception. This set an amazing bar to open the program. Rating: ****1/2 NXT Women's Championship- Ember Moon (c) vs. Shayna Baszler A tough spot for the ladies having to follow that crazy ladder match. They did just

Looking back on 2017- The Impressions on Wrestling Awards!!!!

2017... a crazy year. Not my favorite year in terms of world happenings, but a hell of a year for wrestling. There was an obscene amount of great matches last year. We also had some juicy news stories. I have decided to do a mini awards celebration for this incredible year. Please note that I do miss a lot of wrestling every year due to the sheer amount of content. These awards are voted on by one person, who happens to be me.  So this is a very biased list based on my opinions. There will be a mix of positive and negative awards, which will hopefully keep it fresh. Alright... all of the introductions are out of the way. Let's get to it!!! First up... Best Promotion New Japan Pro Wresting This is an easy pick for me to make. The in-ring quality of NJPW was off the charts in 2017. It started off with an amazing show in Wrestle Kingdom 11 and had some amazing shows along the way, like the G1 and Dominion. We had two amazing trilogies with Okada/Omega and Naito/Ta

The Passion still burns.

It has been a long time, my friends. I have returned. My love of Professional Wrestling never died, but my passion to write about it did wane. I felt like I was forced into bubbles and what I could talk about. Truthfully, that was all in my head. This blog is ultimately just a passion project, and not an attention seeking blog. What does that mean? I should be able to cover whatever it is that is providing fuel to my passion of the sport. My passion is still burning pretty strong, just not in the ways that it used to. How does that affect this site? Well the blog portion is most certainly returning, and I am looking at options at returning to podcasting. I am even looking at opportunities to record videos and post them on YouTube. But I won't necessarily have a structured time for things. I have a weird work schedule and it does affect my ability to run a site. That is why this will be a personal blog if you will, and I have no aspirations for it to be a business. There

ROH Final Battle 2016; What worked and what didn't

I am writing this shortly after the finish of Ring of Honor's biggest show of the year, Final Battle. Ring of Honor has had a rough few years in the eyes of the hardcore wrestling fan. Outside of their New Japan co-promoted shows they have had a tough time getting together good wrestling cards that create buzz. Months ago, I talked about the my positive thoughts on the ending of Global Wars 2016, which provided an angle that could provide a talking point. Ultimately, that show did not generate a ton of buzz, but ROH kept on trucking. Ring of Honor has gotten a lot of crap about lack of talent and new stars. I believe that 2016 will prove to be a very important year to the history of Ring of Honor. ROH took a step to fixing their top end talent pool by signing two of the biggest stars from the UK in Marty Scurll and Will Ospreay. They also are working with Cody Rhodes and used him very well on tonight's show. Final Battle is always booked as Ring of Honor's big finale to
